St. Jude Sea of Hope
On Sunday, May 19, I was able to indulge in bites from local restaurants for a good cause during the inaugural St. Jude Sea of Hope event.
Raising money to benefit the children and families at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, this event featured food from local restaurants, a silent auction, live music and a speech from a local family who was able to benefit from the incredible work that St. Jude does.
Coastal Virginia Magazine was a sponsor, so I was able to attend this culinary event.
Providing food for the event were local restaurants: Harvest Restaurant & Rooftop, Mannino’s, Tempt Restaurant Lounge and Terrapin Restaurant. Jody’s Popcorn provided a dessert popcorn which was the perfect treat for the ride home. Attendees also received a terrarium with air plants from Plant Bar.
Check out some photos of the food that was served at the St. Jude Sea of Hope.
Between the bites, Fillmore Duo played a wonderful mix, ranging from pop, R&B, soft rock and more. We later watched a video detailing the work and history of St. Jude and founder Danny Thomas. A local family, whose daughter was diagnosed with cancer at age 2, came to the stage and gave an inspiring and emotional speech about their wonderful experience with St. Jude. Today, their daughter is 14 years old and cancer free.
The event was able to raise money through the silent auction, donations and even a $6,500 auction prize that included a golf getaway.
