Raisin Bread French Toast
French toast is the perfect sweet tweet for breakfast. If you're like me, you're too impatient to wait for your bread to get a little stale. Follow this recipe to get a french toast that isn't soggy. Feel free to use any kind of bread, but raisin bread is my personal favorite.
Ingredients (makes 4-6 pieces)
1 egg
3/8 cup of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
Raisin bread
I started with 2 slices of raisin bread then cut them diagonally to make 4 pieces.
Then, I whisked together the egg, milk, vanilla extract and cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
Next, heat 1/2 a tablespoon of butter in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
Once the butter is hot, I set up an assembly line. Start by dipping the bread in the wet mixture, then place it in the pan. Cook the bread for 2-3 minutes then flip. Be sure to add more butter when needed.
Once your pieces are cooked, preheat the oven to 350°F. Transfer the french toast to a baking sheet and bake them in the oven for 8-10 minutes.
Drizzle with melted butter and syrup and enjoy!
